As a recruitment company, Skript needs to collect some personal data in order to assist you with your job search. This document sets out what information we need to collect and how we will use it, as your privacy is important to us and we are committed to protecting and safeguarding your data.

What data do we need to collect to help you?

The information we need will vary but can include the below. We will only ask for data that we need to help with your job or candidate search.

  • Contact information (such as name, address, email address and telephone number)

  • Employment and education history, often as part of your CV/Resume

  • Work-related skills, such as language proficiencies or professional qualifications

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

  • Passport or confirmation of your right to work in given countries

  • Benefits information

  • Tax-related information such as P45 or National Insurance numbers

  • References from previous employment

  • Details of any criminal records and permission to carry out an up-to-date criminal records check

  • Extra information that you choose to tell us

  • Extra information that your referees choose to tell us about you

We also collect information in the aggregate to provide ourselves with a better understanding of the users of our website including browsing patterns and preferences. This aggregated data does not contain personally identifiable information.

Note: Where sensitive personal data (e.g., criminal records, diversity data, or health-related data) is collected, we will obtain your explicit consent where required by law.

Why do we process this data?

We process personal data necessary to provide our recruitment services to you. Additionally, we may process your data to provide you with marketing information including news, industry updates, events, and promotions.

Where we provide marketing information to you, we rely on your consent or our legitimate interests, and you will always have the option to unsubscribe.

How do we collect data?

We can collect data from a number of sources including:

1. Job applications via external websites

When you apply for a job you are providing personal information that will help us to understand and support your job search. By providing this information to Skript you are providing Skript with consent to process and store your personal data.

2. Directly from you

You can send us your details or CV/Resume directly (e.g., via email) if you would like us to help with your job search. By providing this information to Skript you are providing Skript with consent to process and store your personal data.

3. From third parties

We may come across your details if you have shared them on social media, the internet, or other employment websites such as job boards. If we find your details via a third party, we will contact you to obtain your consent before processing or sharing them.

How do we process and protect your data?

As Skript collects personal data, we are a ‘Data Controller’ and have legal responsibilities to use the data correctly and safely. All your data is held in our secure systems and is only shared with third parties for the reasons outlined in this document.

Your data may be used to:

  • Assess your suitability for any vacancies we have, or you have applied for

  • Provide you with our recruitment services and to facilitate the recruitment process

  • Verify the information you have given us or conduct any legal checks required by our clients

  • Comply with our legal obligations

  • Send you service updates, satisfaction surveys, and request feedback

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

Who do we share your data with?

We do not share your personal data with third parties, except where it is necessary in order to provide you with our recruitment services as described above. The most common example is sharing your details with a prospective employer (or their outsourced recruitment teams) in order for your application to be considered.

We do not sell personal data to third parties.

Your personal data is stored on servers in the European Economic Area and is only transferred outside that area if you ask us to assist you in obtaining work outside the EEA territories.

If your personal data is transferred or stored outside of Canada (including to the EEA or United States), it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We ensure such transfers are safeguarded appropriately in accordance with applicable privacy laws (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

For residents of Quebec: Personal information transferred outside Quebec is subject to a privacy impact assessment to ensure an equivalent level of protection.

We will not disclose any information we hold about you to third parties without your express permission, except as required to facilitate the recruitment process or comply with legal obligations.

How long do we keep your data?

We keep your personal data only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy. We comply with all applicable data retention requirements and may need to keep some of your details for legal, tax, or financial reporting purposes.

Clients

If you are a client or prospective client, we collect and use information about your organisation and your staff in order to market and provide our recruitment services. Information will be processed where it is:

  • Necessary to perform a contract

  • Required to pursue our legitimate interests

  • Needed for legal compliance or to defend legal claims
